Construction of 500/110/35/10 kV Substation Idliani

Within the framework of Georgia's Transmission Network Development 10-Year Plan, to ensure the grid integration of hydroelectric power plants under construction in the Svaneti region (with a total installed capacity of 230 MW), JSC Georgian State Electrosystem is implementing the construction of the 500/110/35/10 kV Idliani substation on the territory adjacent to the town of Idliani. According to the project, the aforementioned substation also provides for the possibility of connecting the Khudoni hydroelectric power plant to be constructed in the future.

The Idliani substation is unique in the region as it represents a fully enclosed-type facility, which ensures both technological safety and compliance with environmental protection standards.

The construction of the 500/110/35/10 kV Idliani substation is fully financed by JSC Georgian State Electrosystem's own revenues.

Project Details:

  • At this stage, additional engineering-geological and hydrological studies are ongoing. The substation design process has been completed, documentation has been agreed upon, and a positive expert conclusion has been obtained in accordance with the requirements of Georgian legislation. In parallel, procedures for obtaining construction permits are underway.
  • Auxiliary reinforced concrete buildings, structures, and constructions built for the construction of the Khudoni hydroelectric power plant located on the territory have been dismantled.

Project Dates:

  • The project was activated in August 2023.
  • The project will be completed in June 2027.

Project Cost:
