Construction of New Substation Akhaltsikhe 500/400/220 kV and DC Converter Station
Project name: Black Sea Transmission Network (BSTN) Project (245.5 million).
Donor organizations: KfW, EBRD, EIB, EC NIF.
Contractor: SIEMENS (Austria)- substation;SIEMENS(Germany)– converter station.
Total price of the project (loan) : 38.3 million EUR – substation; 141.3 million EUR – direct current converter station (without co-financing, taxes).
Completion date: May, 2013 - direct current converter station, December, 2013 - substation.
Project outcomes:
- Provision of sustainability of the Georgian grid;
- Through this transmission infrastructure, Georgia will be able to carry out the export or transit of electricity to Turkey, as well as to the markets of other Eastern and Central European and Asian countries through Turkey.
