Construction and Rehabilitation of 500 kV OHL Vardzia connecting Gardabani and Akhaltsikhe
Project name: Black Sea Transmission Network (BSTN) Project (245.5 million).
Donor organization: KfW, EBRD, EIB, EC NIF.
Contractor: KEC International Limited (India).
Transmission line length: 190 km.
Total price of the project (loan) : 59.6 million EUR (together with Vardzia and Zekari OHLs, without co-financing, taxes).
Completion date: August, 2012.
Project outcomes:
- Provision of sustainability of the Georgian grid;
- Through this transmission infrastructure, Georgia will be able to carry out the export or transit of electricity to Turkey, as well as to the markets of other Eastern and Central European and Asian countries through Turkey.
