Presentation of the Three-Year Network Development Program at GNERC
Today, 12th of December, Mr. Sulkhan Zumburidze, Rehabilitation Manager of Georgian State Electrosystem, made a presentation on the three-year transmission network development program. The meeting was held at the head office of Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC). The Chairman of the Management Board discussed both power consumption/supply statistics and projects that will be implemented in the following years, with respective investments and network connection station parameters.
According to Sulkhan Zumburidze, imports have increased in 2017 due to the increase in power consumption. Therefore, it is of great importance to build transmission infrastructure connecting the HPPs. "New infrastructural projects will allow the country to satisfy the increased consumption by renewable sources of its own generation," he said. "Georgian State Electrosystem" plans to invest more than 184 million euros in 2018-2020. At the end of December, the GSE three-year investment will be reflected in the tariff. Determination of the relevant tariff methodology will facilitate the improvement of the quality of transmission and dispatch services, the attraction of investments and the implementation of important projects that the company has planned for the year.
