Georgian State Electrosystem Participated in the Meeting Held Under the Aegis of EU’s Energy Union

Representatives of Georgian State Electrosystem participated in the sixth meeting of the Security of Energy Supply Coordination Group held in Vienna, Austria, under the auspices of EU’s Energy Union.The meeting discussed the current, implemented and future changes in the EU legislation in terms of safeguarding electricity supply security.

The representatives of Georgian State Electrosystem emphasized the process of enacting regulatory legislation for the security of electricity supply in Georgia and applicable challenges.

Namely, the threat and risk assessment methodology for electricity security and emergency situations was discussed.

In their presentation, GSE representatives reviewed the total generation, consumption, export and import of the electricity system in Georgia according to 2018-2019. They also presented the statistics of the hydro power plants, wind power plants and their share of the total generation.

One of the important steps that Georgia has taken in the process of European integration and energy sector development was Accession of Georgia to the Energy Community Treaty.
