The Director General of Georgian State Electrosystem Vano Zardiashvili met with World Bank representatives. The meeting discussed current issues related to the "Black Sea Underwater Cable Project",  including preparatory work needed for geophysical and geotechnical research of the Black Sea floor planned within the project framework, the necessity of deepening and developing cooperation with neighboring energy systems, the importance of promoting international recognition of the project, including obtaining Project of Mutual Interest (PMI) status and the issue of including the project in the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) 10-year development plan, for which a corresponding application has already been submitted.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the strategic importance of the "Black Sea Underwater Cable Project" for the development of the country and region.

The "Black Sea Underwater Cable Project" envisages the establishment of a high-voltage underwater transmission network that should connect Georgia's and Europe's electrical energy systems.
