Georgian State Electrosystem Launches a GEL 66 Million Energy Infrastructure Project in Shida Kartli
Georgian State Electrosystem has announced a tender for the construction and reconstruction of three transmission lines in the Shida Kartli region. The estimated value of the project is GEL 65,963,611.
The project includes the double-circuit upgrade of the 220 kV Liakhvi and Urbnisi transmission lines, as well as the reconstruction of the 220 kV Lomisi transmission line. According to the tender requirements, the winning contractor must complete the construction works for all three projects within 18 months from the signing of the contract.
The implementation of these projects will enable the integration of renewable energy facilities currently under development in Shida Kartli into the national transmission network and will increase the network’s transmission capacity.
By 2027, more than 260 MW of electricity generated from renewable energy sources is planned to be integrated into the grid, while an additional 110 MW is expected to be connected by 2028. In total, approximately 800 MW of generation capacity is planned to be connected to the network by 2030.
The integration of renewable energy sources into the transmission network is one of the key priorities of Georgian State Electrosystem. The implementation of these projects will contribute to enhancing the reliability and resilience of the country’s power system and strengthening Georgia’s energy security.
