Meeting with Representatives of the Asian Development Bank

The General Director of the Georgian State Electrosystem, Vano Zardiashvili, met with Adnan Tareen, Principal Energy Specialist at the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues related to the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, including the progress of the tender announced under the project, which is nearing completion.

The parties also discussed directions for future cooperation, and exchanged views on the prospects and development pathways for joint activities.

The battery energy storage units will be installed in enclosed metal structures adjacent to the Ksani 500 substation. The storage batteries will play a significant role in ensuring the stability of Georgia's transmission system, facilitating an increase in the integration limits of solar and wind power plants, and reducing dependence on electricity imports.

The project is being implemented with financing from the Asian Development Bank.
