Asian Development Bank Presents Certificate of Appreciation to Georgian State Electrosystem
Joonho Hwang, Director of the Energy Sector at the Asian Development Bank, presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Vano Zardiashvili, Director General of the Georgian State Electrosystem, in recognition of the effective implementation of the Battery Energy Storage project and the seamless management of the tendering process by the Georgian State Electrosystem.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, which the Georgian State Electrosystem is implementing with financial support from the ADB. The discussions covered the tender results and the next steps to be taken within the scope of the project.
As a result of the Georgian State Electrosystem's objective, transparent, and fully compliant review of tender proposals, in strict adherence to the rules and procedures of the donor organization, it was determined that the project could be implemented at a cost 43% lower than the initially projected budget. This creates an opportunity to effectively utilize the saved funds toward the development of the electricity transmission network.
It was noted that the proper coordination and adequate oversight demonstrated by the Georgian State Electrosystem played a significant role in advancing the project and ensuring its implementation within the planned timeframe.
The meeting was attended by Adnan Tareen, Senior Energy Specialist at the ADB, and Rusudan Shamugia, Director of Project Management Affairs at the Georgian State Electrosystem.
