Meeting with the Private Sector
Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister Inga Pkhaladze, and the Director General of Georgian State Electrosystem, Vano Zardiashvili, met with representatives of companies operating in the energy sector.
During the meeting, the Minister spoke about the ongoing processes aimed at developing the sector, the Government’s vision, and new initiatives. Special emphasis was placed on the decision to write off penalties for investors. According to the Minister, the main challenge identified in working with the energy sector was precisely the penalty component, which had been delaying the majority of energy projects.
“Every step planned by the Government—whether a reform or a change in the sector—will be carried out through prior consultations with the business community, and their opinions, perspectives, and experience will be taken into account,” said Vano Zardiashvili, Director General of Georgian State Electrosystem.
The meeting also addressed new approaches to supporting investment projects, with particular focus on the needs of projects that are critical to the development of the energy sector and on the role of the state in their implementation.
