Visit of KfW Development Bank Representatives to Georgian State Electrosystem

A Delegation of KfW Development Bank visited the Georgian State Electrosystem.

The aim of the mission was within the framework of the Energy Network Improvement Program (ENIP) to conduct the Progress Review for the “Open Program Extension of the Transmission Network II” and “Open Programme Energy Sector”.

The KfW delegation met with Mr. Lasha Khmiadashvili, Director of Project Management and First Deputy Director General at the Georgian State Electrosystem, at the GSE's main office. The agenda included discussions on the progress of ongoing and future projects.

During the visit KfW mission together with technical, social, and environmental protection specialists and the Implementation Consultant conducted site visits to monitor projects funded in the framework of ENIP.

Specifically, they visited various sites within the ongoing projects, including the construction area of the Ozurgeti substation, examined certain erected towers along the Zoti-Ozurgeti 110 kV and 220 kV transmission lines, as well as planned projects in Kakheti. The mission conducted several site visits between Gurjaani and Telavi along the existing 110kV OHL and the planned new route, including the Substations in Gurjaani and Old Telavi as well as the site for the planned SS in New Telavi.

ENIP is a large-scale investment programme with transmission infrastructure projects being implemented across all of Georgia to improve energy stability, reliability and security. It is realized by the partnership between German Development Cooperation through KfW, EU, and GSE, working together as Team Europe.
