International Renewable Energy Investment Conference
Giorgi Gigineishvili, Director General of Georgian State Electrosystem, Kakhaber Keburia, First Deputy Director General and members of the Board of Directors attended International Renewable Energy Investment Conference - Energy Week Black Sea 2023.
The conference was attended by representatives of the authorities and energy companies of Georgia, Romania, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Moldova and Turkey, heads of the state and private sector, representatives of international donor organizations and foreign companies.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss the projects implemented in the last three years in terms of renewable energies in the Black Sea region and to plan future projects. The participants discussed attracting investments in renewable energy in the region, the need to increase interconnection between the countries of the Black Sea basin, maximum use of the potential of renewable energy, strengthening the sustainability of the power system, prospects of the development of solar energy and other issues.
They also touched the project of the underwater power cable connecting Georgia-Romania, which envisages the arrangement of a high-voltage power transmission line and an optical fiber grid on the bottom of the Black Sea, as a result Georgia will be connected to the European energy markets. Zviad Gachechiladze, member of the Board of Directors of GSE, spoke about the progress of the project in his presentation, reviewed the current results and future steps.
