Georgian State Electrosystem Hosted World Bank Mission

Giorgi Gigineishvili, director general of Georgian State Electrosystem, met with the representatives of World Bank mission visiting Georgia. Kakhaber Keburia, the first deputy director general of the company and other authorities also participated in the meeting.

At the meeting, such important issues as opening of the balancing market, the Black Sea submarine cable and other important current projects were discussed.

Special attention was paid to the issue of financial support of ongoing and planned Black Sea submarine cable project research. The priority of the mentioned project, connecting Georgian power system and South Caucasus countries with the systems of continental Europe, was emphasized.

The meeting also touched the construction progress of the substation Tskaltubo 500 and 500kV Jvari-Tskaltubo OHL which are being implemented within the framework of the Energy Supply Reliability and Financial Recovery Project. The project plays a vital role in increasing Georgian energy system security and integrating renewable energy sources into the grid.

It was noted at the meeting that the successful cooperation of the World Bank with Georgian State Electrosystem in the direction of ensuring the sustainability of the country's energy grid will further continue.
