Market Operator Tariff Set for Georgian State Electrosystem
The Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission has set the service tariff for the electricity balancing and ancillary services market operator for the Georgian State Electrosystem.
The service tariff for 2022-2025 tariff years was set at 7 226 GEL /day. This had no impact on the final consumer tariff for electricity.
After the launch of the organized markets, the total amount of the tariff will be distributed to all independent participants in the wholesale market. The tariff will be calculated and submitted for reimbursement in accordance with the methodology defined by the Electricity Balancing and Ancillary Services Market Rules. The service tariff should fully cover the expenses incurred during the implementation of the activities provided by the market operator license obtained by the Georgian State Electrosystem.
The service tariff for the electricity balancing and ancillary services market operator was set as part of the electricity market reform. Tariff setting will help develop competition in Georgia's electricity sector and introduce a European market model.
