Azerenergy Vice President Visits Georgian State Electrosystem

In order to deepen cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan in the energy sector, Giorgi Gigineishvili, the director general of Georgian State Electrosystem met with the vice-president of Azeri energy system operator Azerenergy Vugar Shahmuradov. The working meeting was held at the head office of GSE.

Georgian and Azeri colleagues discussed long-term plans for the development of power infrastructure, including the strengthening of the infrastructure of the power transmission grid connecting Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey. At the meeting, the importance of completing the construction of 330 kV double-circuit Gardabani-Agstafa power transmission line connecting Georgia-Azerbaijan was emphasized, it was noted that the line will further strengthen the energy connection between the two countries. The Georgia-Romania Black Sea submarine cable project, which envisages the connection of the countries of the South Caucasus region with South-Eastern Europe was also reviewed.

Azerbaijan and Georgia are strategic partners in the field of energy. In order to further strengthen mutual cooperation, Georgian State Electrosystem implements large-scale infrastructure projects, which will significantly increase transit opportunities between the two countries.
