Rehabilitation of Ksani 500 Substation

Power Transmission Regional Network Enhancement project is being implemented with the financial support of Asian Development Bank (ADB). Project implies total rehabilitation of Ksani 500 substation and its cost equals to 9.9 million Euro.

“This project is an inseparable part of Georgian Power Sector Development Plan. Project implementation will ensure enhancement of power supply to Eastern part of the country, particularly Tbilisi and Kvemo Kartli, as well as power system stability increase and power export-import support” – noted Sulkhan Zumburidze, Chairman of the Management Board of GSE.

Modernization of automatic voltage regulation equipment on Ksani 500 autotransformers (AT-3) have been finalized in the frames of the mentioned project. This will support to minimize the time needed for substituting phases in operation with reserve phases on AT-3. This processes took 10-12 days before the project implementation and afterwards it will take 4 hours. Such significant reduction of time will support the increase of system reliability. As for emergency cases – GSE will be able to eliminate damages without limiting consumers.

Ksani 500 rehabilitation project will be finalized by the end of 2016.
