GSE starts the construction of new Akhaltsikhe-Batumi Power Transmission Line
GSE and Indian Company “KEC” concluded the contract for construction of 220 KV double circuit power transmission line. The construction works will begin in August 2015 and will be end in 2018. The project entails the construction of about 142km 220 KV double circuit Power Transmission Line from Akhaltsikhe to Batumi.
“This Project will significantly improve the power supply of Batumi, increase the reliability of Georgian power system and will allow us to make the export of surplus energy to Turkey and to other potential markets”- stated Sulkhan Zumburidze, Chairman of Management Board of GSE.
Implementation of this project will also enable the connection of Adjaristskali River HPPs (Suakhevihesi and Koromhetihesi) which are under construction to power Grid and input the generated electricity (about 340 MW) into power system of Georgia.
The Project is implemented with the support of World Bank. The cost of the project is 36,6 million USD.
